HIGHLIGHTS OF GLOBAL STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TALKS BETWEEN INDIA AND USA 2020

Recently, the President of the United States of America, Mr. Donald J. Trump paid his first ever visit to India on 24-02-2020 and 25-02-2020 to discuss and strengthen India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership with Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi.

The highlights of the said India-U.S. Global Strategic Partnership talks are as follows:

1- To enhance defence and security cooperation,

2- To create awareness about joint cooperation in maritime and space domain,

3- To provide advanced training to military and special forces,

4- To collaborate on development and production of advanced defence components and equipment,

5- To transfer advanced U.S. military technology and helicopters,

6- To strengthen partnership between India-U.S. defence industries,

7- To deepen security through cooperation to fight human trafficking, terrorism, cyber-crimes, and other international crimes,

8- To establish a Counter-Narcotics Working Group between the respective law enforcement agencies of India and U.S.,

9- To expand cooperation in trade and investment of hydrocarbons, and other forms of energy, coking/metallurgical coal and natural gas,

10- To set up 6 nuclear reactors in India under the cooperation of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited and Westinghouse Electric Company,

11- To launch a joint mission with the world’s first dual-frequency Synthetic Aperture Radar satellite in 2022 under the cooperation of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA),

12- To address, prevent, detect and respond to mental health challenges faced in both countries,

13- To support India’s entry to the Nuclear Suppliers Group and U.N. Security Council,

14- To support the formation of a Blue Dot Network, where stakeholders from the Governments, the private sector, and the civil society may come together for global infrastructure development,

15- To conclude Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Mental Health, and Safety of Medical Products and a Letter of Cooperation between the Nodal Entities of both the States.

The aforesaid cooperation efforts, indicate that both India and the United States have committed to sustainable, transparent, and quality infrastructure development, global connectivity, trade relations, defence and security, etc in the coming years.
